Reliance Jio
checks its own payments service in India. Reliance is checking the Jio Pay in over a thousand Jio Phones according to the latest sources. The company plans to roll out the feature to a wider audience in the near future. It was announced earlier that Jio is partnering with India's National Payments Corporation to make its payments network available to more than 388 million Jio Phone users in India.

According to a BGR report, Reliance Jio has rolled out the Jio Pay to many uses of Jio Phone across India in a testing process. The report reveals that the company has been testing the feature for over a year now but on August 15 the app was only rolled out to users of Jio Devices. BGR had obtained Jio Phone's exclusive pictures of the Jio Pay app which shows that the application is UPI compliant, which means it can process UPI-enabled payments. "UPI supports full features including Add Bank, Check and Pay, Pay via VPA, Transaction History," the users also told the daily.

One can see in the leaked photos that Jio Pay also has Paytm such apps as the Tap and Pay, Send Money via UPI, Jio Recharge, etc. Users can also add multiple accounts to allow transactions, and a "History" option can also be seen in the Jio Pay menu, which will most likely display all the transactions the user has made.

The report further reveals that the Jio Pay supports NFC and thus users can make contactless payments simply by tapping on a compatible device that could be done due to the existence of an NFC-enabled POS machine installed in the app. So far, the telecommunications giant has partnered with banks including Axis, ICICI, HDFC, Standard Chartered, IndusInd, SBI, Kotak, YesBank, and RBL Bank to make payments on Jio Pay possible.

Reliance has checked the Jio Pay feature on Jio Phone successfully and we can now expect a wider rollout. Notably, only users of Jio Phone have the feature until now, users of Jio Phone 2 have yet to get the Jio Pay on their phone.

Reliance Jio
will, on a related note, let users live stream IPL 2020. There's a catch, however, only users who have access to Disney+ Hotstar can live stream the upcoming Indian Premier League.
